DEXSIL’s HydroSCOUT for Soil is a highly accurate palm-sized analyzer for analyzing a soil horizon or a whole rooting zone for soil moisture content. The information collected can then be applied for efficient irrigation management of crops based on a predetermined soil moisture level (e.g. a vineyard deficit irrigation program), crop yield threshold, or the soil’s allowable soil moisture depletion percentage. Test results provided by the HydroSCOUT correlate with the standard oven dry laboratory method for evaluating soil moisture content, bypassing the 48-hour wait. The HydroSCOUT for Soil is great for a range of users, including farmers, water conservationists, irrigation schedulers, irrigation districts, viticulturists, and federal or state water agencies.

HydroSCOUT for Soil can also be used to compensate for the amount of water in analytical samples in cases where the analysis is based on dry weight, or for engineering studies for soil compaction.

Whether testing one or many samples, no instrument setup time is required. Soil moisture level testing is fast and easy. Simply extract 1–10 grams of soil, add 0.25 mL of extract to the reaction tube, break an ampule, and wait three minutes. Once ready, insert the tube into the HydroSCOUT and read the soil’s moisture content directly on the LCD. Orders can be placed for the HydroSCOUT for Soil instrument, carrying case, and 40 test regents, or for 40 independent test reagents.
