Gastec's GV-100 and GV-110 gas sampling hand pumps are used with Gastec standard gas sampling tubes for on the spot sampling in over 600 different applications. Features like a smaller diameter pump shaft to reduce the effort required to pull the handle, a built in thermal ring for ambient temperature readings, and a tip breaker with a diamond edge cutting blade increase both usability and safety. The housing is manufactured from a plastic and synthetic rubber compound enclosed in a soft elastomer for a comfortable grip and to eliminate the possibilty of any sparks when dropped in a hazardous environment. When sampling the pump shaft can lock into two clearly defined positions, allowing accurate and consistent sample volumes of 50 or 100 ml, while a flow finish indicator in the handle informs the user when the sample is finished.

Gastec sampling pumps are primarily used with Gastec gas detection tubes but they are also used with Polytec multiple gas detection tubes, Soil vapor detection tubes, gas generation kits, and water analysis kits.

Although most of Gastec's gas detector tubes do not require multiple stroke sampling volumes, for the ones that do, the GV-110 gas sampling pump includes a built in stroke counter in the housing of the pump. the counter automatically counts and clearly indicates the number of strokes from 1 to 10. The counter is simply set to zero before sampling begins and will automatically increment on every stroke, eliminating the possiblity of miscounting and errors. After sampling is completed the counter can be reset to zero by simply twisting the dial. For applications where multiple strokes are not required, the counter can be set to an off position to stop it from incrementing.

Gastec gas sampling pumps are the only pumps to include a built in ambient temperature indicator. Gastec's patented Thermal Ring comes attached to the base of the pump and indicates temperature in a range of 32 to 104 °F in increments of 9 °F, providing quick and reliable ambient temperature readings on the spot.

The GV-100 and the GV-110 gas sampling pumps are also available with Gastec's one hand adapter. This attachment on the front of the pump allows the system to be primed prior to sampling and the sample taken with one hand at the push of a button. The pump can still be used as normal with the one hand adapter attached. When its functionality is desired the adapter is locked and the handle pulled back to either the full of half stroke position, holding the vacuum within the pump body. The sample is then drawn when the button on the adapter is pressed and the vacuum released.

Even some gases that cannot normally be detected by standard gas tube detection systems can be measured with a Gastech gas sampling pump through the use of the Pyrotec Pyrolyzer accessory attachment. The device is simply screwed onto the front of the pump and can pyrolyze certain stable substances converting the gases which can then by measured by the gas tube detection system. The Pyrotec Pyrolyzer is required to measure gases like anesthetic gases, nitro compounds, Chlorofluorocarbons, refridgerants, and Dimethyl Sulfide.
