Portable CO2/H2S/LEL/O2 Monitor
Landtec designed the GEM-500 for use in landfills to monitor landfill gas migration control systems, LEL levels, flares, gas extraction systems, migration probes, subsurface fires, and much more. The GEM-500 landfill gas monitor combines the capabilities of nine field instruments with an onboard computer. It samples and analyzes the carbon dioxide, methane, and oxygen content of landfill gas and displays, on screen, results as percentage of CO2, CH4, O2, and ‘balance’ gas (generally nitrogen). Other displayed calculations include flow rate, temperature, Btu content, and lower explosive limit (LEL).
The GEM-500 has memory for storage of up to 500 monitoring points for reference and comparison to current data and alarms which can be defined for oxygen and methane. Stored data can be transferred to a PC through the GEM-500‘s RS-232 port for later analysis through the included DataField CS software. Preset maintenance codes can optionally be used to note required field work. Gas flow rates are automatically calculated and adjusted to standard temperature and pressure (STP). Results are displayed, by preference, in either imperial or metric units.
Contained within an all-weather enclosure and designed for easy handheld use and portability with on-screen instructions to guide the user through sampling, the GEM-500 is ready for use in the field. Gas analysis and display of information is usually completed in less than a minute. Its self-compensating infrared gas analyzer and rechargeable power source are designed for a full day of operation. The GEM-500 includes an internal pump capable of drawing sample up to 80&#quot; vacuum WC.
