Irritant Smoke Tubes

Nextteq irritant smoke tubes kits are an economical method to produce irritant smoke for both respirator fit testing and airflow indication. Irritant smoke fit testing is an OSHA accepted testing method that does not rely on subjective responses from test subjects while maintaining a cost effective approach without the need for any expensive equipment, warm-up times, or calibration. Everything required for multiple tests is included in the kit. Irritant smoke tubes are also useful for airflow testing since they produce a highly visible white smoke. Each smoke tube can be used up to 40 times for fit testing or airflow indication.

Gastec irritant smoke tubes produce smoke containing Hydrogen Chloride and tin compounds. They are only for use by trained and qualified personell following all instructions and warnings provided by the manufacturer.

Smoke is produced by breaking the tips on the end of the tube and using the included aspirator. A chemical reaction within the tube is caused by the humidity in the air. After each use the tube can be sealed with the included rubber caps and resused.

Respiratory fit testing using irritant smoke provides a reliable and involuntary response to leaks, while removing the time and costs of nebulizers and test mixtures. False positives due to differences between test subjects are virtually eliminated, and subjects may eat or drink beforehand without comprimising the results.
