Transformer Gas Monitor

Thermo’s Innova XT transformer combustible gas detector includes everything necessary to test for combustible gases in real time inside the inert headspaces of transformers. Since combustible gas sensors require Oxygen to operate, the Innova XT includes a dilution fitting providing a sample to the instrument that is a 50/50 mixture of the sample from the transformer headspace and atmospheric air. This allows accurate measurements of combustible gases inside the transformer headspace to be measured to see if they are within acceptable levels.

A transformer that is found to have unacceptable levels of combustible gases will require addtional inspection to discover the fault and determine the proper course of action. This additional inspection will involve dissolved gas analysis.

The Innova XT can also be ordered with an optional Oxygen sensor to detect the presence of Oxygen within the transformer headspace. When testing for Oxygen, the dilution fitting must be removed and a direct sample taken from the transformer headspace. For quickly checking for the presence of Oxygen, you can simply place your finger over the port on the dilution fitting that draws in atmospheric air. The Innova XT can test multiple transformers, offers significant savings over dissolved gas analysis, and provides measurements in real time.

What to Order

The Innova XT transformer gas detector comes in two versions, either with an Oxygen sensor or without one. Both versions include all required accessories for transformer gas testing.

To order an Innova XT with NiCd rechargeable batteries, order a quantity of 4 NiCd batteries and choose a charger from the options listed in accessories.

All Innova series gas detectors include built in datalogging. Downloading the data to a PC requires a data retrieval kit p/n 82–5071, available below under accessories.
