Handheld Optical DO Meter

The ProODO is a handheld optical DO meter for use in the field or the lab. Optical DO probe technology allows for an expanded range (0 to 500%), low cost maintenance, increased accuracy, removes the need for stirring or sensor warmup, and eliminates probe fouling. YSI’s optical DO probes feature ‘smart' sensor technology, storing calibration data within the probe itself allowing the user to switch probes between instruments or switch between field and lab probes without having to recalibrate. Calibrations can be stable for up to 1 year and there are no electrodes to clean or solutions to replace. All that is required is a yearly replacement of the inexpensive sensing element, which is easliy performed by the user. Barometric pressure compensation is performed automatically by a barometer built into the instrument, and salinity compensation can also automatically be performed with a user input value. Field cables with probes are available in lengths ranging from 1 to 100 meters. A self stirring optical BOD probe for labratory use is also available.

YSI’s Professional Series line of instruments also includes the Professional Plus highly versatile multiparameter instrument, the Pro2030 DO and conductivity instrument, and the Pro20 DO meter. These instruments use standard DO probes allowing for fast response times (< 8 seconds).

Every ProODO includes datalogging with enough memory for 2000 sets of data, the DataManager PC software, and a communications saddle. A large, graphic, backlit LCD screen is highly visible under many conditions, even when wearing sunglasses. The menu system is intuitive, easy to navigate, and can operate in many different languages. The ProODO is powered from 2 C alkaline batteries that provide approximately 80 hours of runtime.

Designed to meet the demands of true field work, the ProODO features a rubber over-molded case, field-tested cables, a weighted rubber probe guard, and military spec connectors. The ProODO is rated to IP-67 standards even without its battery cover and is backed by a 3 year instrument warranty and a 2 year cable and probe warranty.
