Dexsil PetroFLAG

TPH (Total Petroleum Hydrocarbon) in Soil Analyzer

Dexsil PetroFLAG - TPH (Total Petroleum Hydrocarbon) in Soil Analyzer

Dexsil’s PetroFLAG Total Petroleum Hydrocarbon (TPH) in Soil System is an on-site test kit for determining the total petroleum hydrocarbons in soil. It is easy to use, inexpensive, and environmentally safe. The PetroFLAG System does not distinguish between aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, but quantifies all oils, greases, and fuels as total hydrocarbons. Analysis is performed using a 10 gram soil sample and three easy steps: extraction, filtration, and analysis.

The PetroFLAG System fills a gap in the hydrocarbons in soil testing process. Laboratory methods such as EPA 8015, in addition to expense and time, may omit heavier hydrocarbons such as fuel oil, motor oil, greases, and more. Method 418.1, previously the only broad-spectrum ‘total petroleum hydrocarbon’ soil field test, is highly inefficient for wet soil tests despite being quite accurate for dry soil samples. The PetroFLAG System, in addition to its convenience, speed, and low cost, is an excellent choice when working against such limitations. Everything needed to perform up to ten soil tests is included with the PetroFLAG System. Its briefcase-sized carrying case makes transportation of all necessary equipment easy.

The PetroFLAG Analyzer is a handheld, portable, light-weight unit capable of running 4,000 hydrocarbons in soil tests on a single 9-volt battery. Fifteen response factors, correlating to fuels as dense as heavy crude oil or as sparse as weathered gasoline, are programmed into the PetroFLAG Analyzer for use depending on the analyte of interest. The PetroFLAG Analyzer utilizes an easy menu-driven interface, an EEPROM memory system and is designed to survive use in the field. Included with the PetroFLAG System for measuring hydrocarbons in soil is one set of calibration standards, a timer, electronic balance, a carrying case, and ten tests. Additional PetroFLAG Reagents are independently available.

Dexsil PetroFLAG Ordering Instructions

The PetroFLAG analyzer is available below as a complete kit which includes everything you need and enough reagents for 10 tests and 1 calibration.

Additional reagents can be ordered in packs for 10 tests or in cases for 40 tests. Reagents always include enough calibration reagents to calibrate every ten tests as recommended by Dexsil. If you require more frequent calibrations, calibration reagents can be purchased separately.

In situations where high concentrations are present, the high range reagent kit in combination with standard reagents can be used for measurements up to 200,000 ppm or 20%.
