The Solinst 425 Discrete Interval Sampler can recover highly accurate water samples from regions below floating point product layers (LNAPL) and to recover samples of product itself (LNAPL and DNAPL). You can also use the discrete interval sampler to obtain samples from points of inflow or distinct levels and to profile screened wells and opened boreholes. As is the case with pumping and purging, disturbance of water is negligible, but unlike pumping and purging there is no need for purging or disposal of purged water. The 435 Discrete Interval Sampler is easy to operate, transport, and easy to disassemble for decontamination.

Discrete interval sampling minimizes mixture of water from different points in the well and increases the reliability and accuracy of samples which are recovered. This is possible because the 425 Discrete Interval Sampler is pressured through use of a high-pressure hand pump to prevent water from flowing into the sampler as it is lowered into the well. Samples recovered from a specific point in the well remain largely representative of groundwater outside that area of the well. Additionally, a floating checkball in the 1.66” sampler prevents water from entering the tubing so there’s no need for the tubing to be decontaminated.
