With the addition of an extension probe and a boring rod, the Gastec detector tube system provides an economical and accurate on the spot solution for soil contamination analysis.
The Gastec gas tube detection system can be used to easily and accurately determine the extent of soil contamination. This is accomplished through the use of standard gas detection tubes and sampling pump along with a extension pole attachment and a boring rod.
This system froms a very economical, on the spot, solution for measuring soil contamination. Through the use of multiple testing points the distribution and source of the contaminants can be measured. It is even possible to deduce whether the groundwater has been affected.
This technique is called the Kimitsu™ Contaminated Vadose Zone Assessment. It was first developed for trichloroethylene contamination. It consists of hand drilling a hole using the boring rod p/n 361, then measuring the gas at the bottom of the hole using an extension pole for sub surface sampling p/n 360.

To use the Gastec tube detection system for soil contamination, a boring rod and soil sampling extension probe are required in addition to a Gastec sampling pump. The boring rod (p/n 361) and the extenstion probe (p/n 360) are listed below under accessories.
